2020 Budget Wedding Photography Equipment Guide

Cameras have been a never ending obsession for a lot of photographers, mainly those who have started more recently. Technology has been so kind to everyone that new gadgets are coming up every 8-9 months which means that everything is also getting old at a very fast rate. For people starting into wedding photography, it can be a challenge to keep up with these gadgets on a limited budget. So let's discuss optimal gear required to start into weddings.

First of all, I'd recommend you all to start your career assisting someone because that will give you really deep insights about how to progress your career there. I'll start the gear recommendations with budget allowances in 3 categories : Barebones, Low and Medium.

For the CAMERA ,I do not recommend going full frame because A > They are Pricey, B > Their lenses are Pricier. However, If you're rich, please don't mind. What are you doing in this section anyways if you're rich ?


Barebones

upto $1200 CAD

  • Camera : Sony A6000 / Nikon D3500 / Canon 700D
  • Lenses : Kit lens and 50mm F1.8

Low

upto $2000 CAD

  • Camera : Sony A6500 / Nikon D5600 / Canon 80D
  • Lens : Sigma / Tamron / OEM 17-50mm F2.8 Zoom lens
  • Flash : Cheapest TTL Flash (try Godox or Yongnuo) with rechargeable AA batteries and charger and a Transmitter (off camera)
  • Diffusers : Magmod equivalent Chinese kit + Softbox + Light Stand from amazon


Medium

upto $3000 CAD
